At Scottish Clothing Store, we take pride in crafting traditional Highlandwear with the same care we extend to our customers. If your purchase of kilts, accessories, or gifts doesn’t meet your expectations, our returns policy ensures a straightforward process.
Our Returns Policy
We accept returns and exchanges within 15 days of receiving your order. To be eligible:
- Items must be unused, in original condition with all tags attached
- Original packaging must be intact (especially important for gift sets and Highlandwear)
- Proof of purchase is required
Note on Personalised Items: Custom-made kilts, engraved cufflinks, and monogrammed accessories cannot be returned unless faulty. Harris Tweed items may only be exchanged if the original tweed pattern is still available.
Returns Process
- Initiate Your Return: Email us at [email protected] with your order number and return request (see template below)
- Await Authorization: We’ll respond within 2 business days with return instructions
- Package Securely: Use the original packaging when possible. For kilts and jackets, we recommend using a garment bag
- Ship Your Return: Send to: Scottish Clothing Store, 23 Hilltown, Dundee, GB DD5M 6WX
- Confirmation: We’ll email you once we receive and process your return
Exchanges
For exchanges (size, colour, or style changes):
- Follow the same return process above
- Clearly state your desired exchange item in your email
- If the exchange item costs more, you’ll be invoiced for the difference
- For lower-priced exchanges, we’ll refund the difference
Refund Information
Once we receive and approve your return:
- Processing Time: 3-5 business days
- Refund Method: Original payment method (Visa, MasterCard, JCB, PayPal)
- Shipping Costs: Original shipping fees are non-refundable
- International Refunds: May take 7-10 additional days to appear in your account
Non-Returnable Items
To preserve quality and tradition, these items cannot be returned unless defective:
- Personalised gifts (engraved items, monogrammed accessories)
- Handfasting ribbons (due to ceremonial nature)
- Kilt pins with clan-specific designs
- Gift sets that have been opened
- Sale or clearance items

Damaged or Faulty Items
If you receive a damaged or defective item (such as torn Harris Tweed or broken kilt pins):
- Contact us immediately with photos of the damage
- We’ll arrange a free return and replacement
- In some cases, we may request return of the damaged item
